LIFEGUARD
Title: Lifeguard Facility: Surf Club, East Wharf
Direct Supervisor: Head Lifeguard Shift: 9:30am-5:00pm
Requirements
- Ability to hold and maintain certification in Lifeguarding.
- Ability to adapt to open water lifeguarding.
- Ability to hold and maintain certification in Adult, Child and Infant CPR, AED, and First AID.
- Ability to interact with the public on a frequent basis.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
- Ability to participate in light physical exercises and training activities per shift.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for first aid.
- Responsible for performing the task of lifeguarding in an open water environment.
- Responsible for the rescue of distressed or injured swimmers.
- Responsible for monitoring the water for potential hazards.
- Responsible for monitoring and inspecting the beach for potential hazards.
- Responsible for inspecting all equipment prior to every shift to ensure that it is in proper working order.
- Responsible for utilizing various lifeguarding tools, including an ocean kayak, in the effort to protect the public.
- Responsible for assisting Facility Monitor’s during missing child and park closure situations.
- Responsible for participating in daily training exercises.
