Title: Lifeguard                                                                   Facility: Surf Club, East Wharf

Requirements

1. Ability to hold and maintain certification in Lifeguarding.
2. Ability to adapt to open water lifeguarding.
3. Ability to hold and maintain certification in Adult, Child and Infant CPR, AED, and First AID.
4. Ability to interact with the public on a frequent basis.
5. Ability to work well with others.
6. Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
7. Ability to participate in light physical exercises and training activities per shift.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for first aid.
2. Responsible for performing the task of lifeguarding in an open water environment.
3. Responsible for the rescue of distressed or injured swimmers.
4. Responsible for monitoring the water for potential hazards.
5. Responsible for monitoring and inspecting the beach for potential hazards.
6. Responsible for inspecting all equipment prior to every shift to ensure that it is in proper working order.
7. Responsible for utilizing various lifeguarding tools, including an ocean kayak, in the effort to protect the public.
8. Responsible for assisting Facility Monitor’s during missing child and park closure situations.
9. Responsible for participating in daily training exercises.
