A Dozen Steps to a Healthier Planet
  1. Switch to electricity from renewable sources
  2. Change your light bulbs to compact fluorescents
  3. Find ways to drive less; carpool, bike and walk more
  4. Choose an energy efficient car when replacing
  5. Check the air pressure in your tires regularly
  6. Turn things off; especially electronics when not in use; unplug them when possible
  7. Buy a programmable thermostat; keep your heat down in the winter and your cooling down too.  Use only when people are at home and awake.
  8. Use less hot water; cooler washes and shorter showers
  9. Look for ways to use the sun for passive heating and cooling; opening and closing insulated curtains makes a huge difference
  10. Buy Energy Star appliances when replacing old ones
  11. Recycle where you work and live; look for recycled products when shopping, bring reusable bags to the market
  12. Look for fresh, local and organic food
