General
Information
This web
page provides public information in the event mass
smallpox vaccination is required. It also provides
scheduling and other information to clinic volunteers.
In the
event of a significant smallpox outbreak, the Federal and
State governments may recommend rapid smallpox
vaccination of the entire civilian population. The
Governor will likely declare a State of Emergency to
initiate such vaccinations. Towns and states throughout
the country are currently engaged in planning logistical
details for such mass vaccination clinics. You are
urged to save this website address for future reference
and to check with this website regularly, as these plans
develop, for more details.
The towns
of Branford, Guilford, East Haven, Madison and North
Branford have been designated a region in which there
will be two mass vaccination clinics, one in Madison at
the Town Campus on Duck Hole Road and one in Branford at
Branford High School on East Main Street.
(SEE
MAPS)
In the event mass vaccination is indicated,
residents of the subject towns will be directed to their
designated clinic over approximately a ten-day period to
be vaccinated. Branford and East Haven residents will
go to the Branford location and Guilford, Madison and
North Branford residents will go to the Madison location.
Vaccinations
will be scheduled in a predetermined manner; such as
alphabetically by last name, or street by street.
Scheduling and other information for both clinic sites
will be available on this website and on Cable TV Public
Access Television Stations 18, 19 and/or 20 in Branford,
Guilford, East Haven, Madison and North Branford. It is
probable that there will also be information on local
commercial radio and network television stations, but
possibly not specific enough to serve any one
region.

Call
for Volunteers
These
mass vaccination clinics will be staffed by volunteers.
The Federal government, under whose guidance all the
clinics will operate, has estimated each 8-hour clinic
shift will require about 115 volunteers. Extended out
that means we will need over thirty thousand hours of
volunteer help over a period of ten days. These
clinics will obviously be a significant logistical
effort, both in terms of personnel needs and facility and
supply issues.
