Truck Driver/Laborer

The Town of Madison has an opening for the full time position of Truck Driver/Laborer. Under supervision of the Highway Foreman or Crew Leader, drives a highway truck, cuts grass and roadside brush, cleans drains, patches holes, builds catch basins and plows snow as required. Work ordinarily follows an established routine which includes manual duties and assignments are frequently in detail. Also performs all duties of Laborer. Remains on 24 hour call for emergencies.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  1. Drives highway trucks and equipment and performs various laborer tasks as assigned.
  2. Cuts grass and brush along roadsides; checks, cleans and builds catch basins.
  3. Patches holes in roads, hauls materials and installs signs.
  4. Operates a dump truck with plowing attachments and sander to plow and sand Town roads, parking lots, grounds and facilities.
  5. Relieves equipment operator as needed.
  6. Operates equipment to mow fields and roadsides; services equipment.
  7. Uses jack-hammer, chain saws, clippers and related equipment.
  8. Uses hand tools to repair catch basins, clear culverts and to perform repair and maintenance work.
  9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  10. Ability to work effectively in extreme weather conditions.

Minimum qualifications for this position include completion of high school or vocational school and 6 months related experience or equivalent. The successful candidate must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License.
The position is C-4 with a range of $14.20- 20.82 depending on experience with a six month probationary period. This is an unaffiliated non-union position. Interested applicants should complete an employment application online or available in the Selectmen’s Office.

Bus Driver, Madison Senior Center Depot

The Town of Madison has an immediate opening for a Bus Driver who possesses a commercial driver’s license.  The duties of the Bus Driver position include driving a bus, assisting passengers in and out of the vehicle to their destination and various other duties as required by the Senior Center programs. Must participate in a Federally Mandated Drug Testing Program.

Minimum qualifications for this position include graduation from High School or equivalent, a valid Connecticut Driver’s License with a commercial driver’s license endorsement and a clean driving record.
