MADE in Madison (Madison Alcohol and Drug Education Coalition) serves the Town of Madison in south Central Connecticut with a population of over 18,638. The goals of the program are:
- Strengthen MADE in Madison by increasing community collaborations and involvement in community prevention efforts through town-wide capacity building efforts
- Reduce the current use of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana among Madison youth.
To achieve these goals, the Coalition will implement the following strategies:
- mobilize community members through efforts to build their readiness and resources to address youth drug use;
- conduct a communications and media campaign aimed at increasing parent communication with their children about substance use issues;
- create a coalition brand for the communications and social norms campaigns that all 12 sectors will use in their community prevention activities
- develop a social norms marketing campaign on the dangers of youth substance abuse including the long-term impacts on adolescent brain development and importance of parents talking to their kids about their disapproval of substance use.
