On Thursday, August 14, 2014 the Board of Police Commissioners was proud to promote two Madison police patrol officers to the rank of sergeant: Sergeant Benjamin Hoffman (left) and Sergeant Joseph Race.
Sergeant Hoffman holds a Master’s Degree in Science, a Bachelor’s of Arts in Applied Social Relations and a Minor in Criminal Justice. Sergeant Race holds a Juris Doctorate, a Bachelor of Arts with a Minor in Political Science and an Associate of Arts, General Education.
On September 11, 2014, the Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POSTC) awarded the Madison Police Department their Tier III Certificate of Accreditation. This award is a separate honor bestowed upon the Madison Police Department in addition to the CALEA Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation awarded on March 24, 2014.
The State Accreditation process required the Madison Police Department to comply with “State-specific” standards not covered as part of the CALEA process.
These two honors indicate Madison Police Department’s commitment to adhere to the most rigorous standards in law enforcement and to provide the highest the quality of services to the Town of Madison.
