Dear Taxpayer,

Enclosed are your tax bills for the Grand List of October 1, 2010 that are due and payable July 1, 2011.

The 2011-2012 Fiscal Year Budget for the Town of Madison estimates that $2,505,772 will be received from the State of Connecticut for various state-financed programs. Without this assistance, your 2011–2012 Fiscal Year property rate would be 20.16 mils instead of 19.43 mils. State Law Section 12-130 requires this statement.

  • If you have recently sold your property, please be sure there is an exchange of the tax bill between the seller and the buyer.
  • If a bank or mortgage company pays the real estate taxes for you, please promptly send them the bill.
  • If a motor vehicle has been sold and not replaced, please contact the Assessor.
  • If you recently moved out of state and you send a copy of the new vehicle registration along with the receipt for turning in the Connecticut registration, you will receive a tax adjustment. Please contact the Assessor at 203-245-5652.
  • Motor Vehicle taxes unpaid after August 1, 2011 will be reported to the Motor Vehicle Department and registrations will be denied as provided by law.
  • All back taxes must be paid in full before money can be applied to the current tax bill.
  • Receipts will not be mailed unless a stamped envelope is included with the payment.
  • Mail received with a USPS POSTMARK on or before AUGUST 1, 2011 is considered an ON TIME PAYMENT for the July installment.
  • Please make checks payable to Town of Madison.
  • To pay by credit card, please go to www.officialpayments.com and click on Local Payments or call 1-800-2PAYTAX (800-272-9829). The Jurisdiction Code for Madison is 1784 and you will need your list/bill number(s). There is a convenience fee charged by Official Payments Corporation for this service.

WE DO NOT MAIL A SEPARATE BILL FOR THE JANUARY INSTALLMENT ON REAL ESTATE OR PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR A BUSINESS – THIS IS THE FULL YEAR BILL

If you are missing bills or if you have questions regarding your bill, please contact our office at 203-245-5641.

Sincerely,

Alma D. Carroll
