Town of Madison

Please note the following:

1. The liability date for this tax bill is October 1,  2006.
2.
Your car is on the list because CT. DMV records show that it was registered here on October 1, 2006.
3.
The bill covers the period from October 1, 2006  to September 30, 2007.
4.
The Assessor must authorize cancellation of, or changes to a tax bill.

*If you replaced the car being taxed with another car using the same marker plate-pay this bill. The new car will be taxed next January as of the month it was registered. Credit for the current payment will be given on the January bill.

The Assessor can authorize adjustments to these bills if your car has been:

-totaled or junked
-stolen and not recovered
-sold and not replaced (see above)
-registered in another state because you moved
-donated

You are required to provide a plate receipt from DMV and one of the following:

-insurance company report of loss settlement/junkyard receipt
-insurance confirmation that coverage was cancelled and disposition of vehicle
-police theft report and lost/stolen plate receipt from DMV
-copy of the bill of sale
-copy of new registration in another state
-copy of donation receipt
-copy of the purchase agreement identifying the trade-in vehicle (*see above)

To return Connecticut marker plates for cancellation, mail to:
