Thursday, June 5, 2008 - Celebrity Chef Jacques Pepin and his wife, Gloria, cut the ribbon at the grand opening of the Madison Passport Office which is located at the Probate Court offices in the Madison Town Campus Building.
There have been many important changes to U.S. Passport laws.. Among them, all American citizens - even infants - will need their own individual passport. Young Children will no longer be allowed to travel on a parent's passport.
Said Philip Zuckerman, Probate Judge for the town of Madison, "Over 1300 new passports and several thousand passport renewals were issued to Madison residents in 2007. This is partly due to the changes in the law and partly due to the lifestyles of shoreline residents who leave the country for vacations, business trips or to attend school abroad. We expect that number to double in 2008 and 2009."
The New Madison Passport office is open 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Noon to 3:00 p.m. on Friday. No appointments are neccesary. For more information, please visit the Office of Probate Court online.
