The Madison Foundation’s Town Challenge

Neighbor to NeighborA growing fuel crisis exists in our town. Federal funding to Madison’s fuel assistance program has been cut in half since last year resulting in a loss of $73,000 in aid. Hundreds of Madison residents are at risk of not being able to heat their homes this winter. Especially vulnerable are families with children and our elderly.

This year, $525 will be the average amount of fuel assistance a qualifying Madison household can expect to receive. That amount of fuel assistance given once over the entire winter will barely provide for a half tank of fuel.   With the coldest part of the winter just upon us, action is needed.

So, on February 1st, the Madison Foundation is kicking off a “Town Challenge”, supporting the N2N, Neighbor to Neighbor Fuel Fund. We are “challenging” individuals, families, clubs, schools, houses of worship and businesses to rally as one community and donate to the N2N Fuel Fund. 100% of all donations will go directly Madison residents in need of fuel assistance as determined by Madison’s Youth & Family Services department.

The Madison Foundation has set the Town Challenge as ….

“Donate to the N2N Fuel Fund now and we will double each donation”, through the month of February up to $10,000.

This Town Challenge is consistent with the Madison Foundation’s mission of “Making Madison a better place to live both now and in the future.” By partnering with you and the N2N Fuel Fund, we all can warm the homes of our neighbors.

Give the gift of warmth. Donate on line at www.themadisonfoundation.org, or by mail sending your tax deductible donation to The Madison Foundation / N2N Match Box 446, Madison, CT 06443.
