PLEASE DISPOSE OF YOUR WASTE PROPERLY
Connecticut towns are required to provide ways for residents to dispose of most common types of waste. Madison has no municipal trash pick-up so residents may either contract with commercial waste haulers for regular trash and recycling service or they may dispose of their own trash at authorized locations. (Commercial trash haulers do not pick up hazardous waste)

HAZARDOUS WASTE – GET RID OF IT SAFELY!
Responsible disposal of hazardous household waste doesn’t come cheap. Fortunately residents of Madison have already paid the bill to dispose of the hazardous waste in their homes. Please remember that this service is seasonal and hazardous waste removal at other times of year is quite expensive, so we urge residents to act seasonally.
Each year the Town of Madison participates in HOUSEHOLD HAZWASTE CENTRAL located at the Regional Water Authority in New Haven. Residents of participating towns are invited to bring most hazardous wastes to the site at 90 Sargent Drive (Long Wharf exit) on Saturday mornings between 9AM and Noon. 2012 Collections begin on May 19th and continue to October 27th.
No collections will be made on major holiday weekends: Memorial Day (May 26th), Labor Day (September 1st). Additionally Madison will host a satellite collection at Hammonasset State Park from 9:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, September 29, 2012
For more information on what to bring or not bring, refer to brochures at Town Campus, Scranton Library, and The Senior Center or visit the Water Authority web site.
