Commission Purpose
The Madison Senior Citizen Commission was established in September of 1994 with a mission to foster the understanding, respect and involvement of senior citizens in the life of the community. It shall reach out to all Madison seniors to enhance their quality of life.
Goals and Objectives
Provide direction in the development and implementation of programs and services for Madison Senior citizens. Continuously assess the needs of seniors and appropriately satisfy these needs. Work with community, regional and state agencies in developing and implementing plans for cooperative and comprehensive programs and services. Formulate and adopt rules, by-laws, and guidelines for the Department of Senior Services. Assist in annual budget preparation. Oversee expenditures and revenues.
Commission Membership
The working Commission shall consist of nine members, appointed by the Board of Selectmen, for two year terms. A minimum of one-third of the membership shall consist of senior citizens. It shall oversee program goals and objectives.
