Meals On Wheels Drivers Needed!

The Town of Madison will reimburse drivers-32.5 cents per mile. Please call 245-5687 to volunteer for any amount of time. Any amount of time is appreciated!

Transportation Options

Madison residents, age 60 or older & disabled residents have transportation service options including the fixed route Madison Senior Bus, Dial-A-Ride & Madison Community Services; Medical Transportation Program.  Madison residents may call the Depot, 245-5627 to be mailed a flyer for the programs or use our website to read the information.

Dial-A-Ride

Operation of Dial-A-Ride is a public transportation service designed to meet the transportation needs of the elderly & disabled. Rides may be used in a 14-town Shoreline Region including medical appointments, (1st priority), shopping, personal business & work.
48 hours minimum notice required.

Transportation Via Senior Bus

busFixed routes to the Senior Center (DEPOT), downtown, special events, hot lunch program & Thursday grocery shopping.  Pick-up notice – 48 hours required.

Medical appointment transportation (local & surrounding areas) 4 days notice required. Call 245-3031.

The Shoreline Shuttle Estuary Transit District Route

The route includes pickup @ the Depot at 10:20 AM & return at 2:30 PM on Monday – Friday. Call (860) 510-0429 to make pick-up arrangements.  Pre-registration required. This 9-Town Transit Bus (Madison to Old Saybrook) connects with the Dattco Bus to New Haven @ the Scranton Parking Lot.  Route schedules available in the Depot office.

Benefits QuickLINK

Are you or a loved one over age 60 and struggling to pay monthly bills? RSVP of South Central CT will offer free confidential, benefit (s) screenings to individuals age 60 & older @ the Depot on Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30. The screening is geared to help older adults determine if they are receiving all the benefits to which they are entitled, including RX drugs, energy assistance, financial assistance & MORE! Call Heather @ 245-5687 to schedule an appointment, determine which documentation & information you need to bring with you, and to find out more about this wonderful service!

Air Conditioning Rebates

air conditionerA new law designed to promote energy efficiency, establishes a rebate program for customers who replace air conditioners and systems that do not meet Federal Energy Star standards.

Rent Rebate Program-2010

Rent Rebate ProgramA qualifying applicant will receive a one time rebate to help offset rental expenses. Proof of 2009 Income, 2009 rental expenses, 2009 heating costs, 2009 electric payments and 2009 water payments are needed at the time of application. Maximum qualifying income for single: $32,300 and for Couple: $39,500. The deadline for filing for this program is September 15, 2010. *Please note: if you lived in a location other than Madison in 2009, you may still be able to qualify.

Connecticut Energy Assistance Program

energyThe Connecticut Energy Assistance Program assists CT residents by paying for a portion of their heating costs for the winter season. To qualify, an applicant must be 60 years old, disabled, or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Proof of all income, rent, & utility expenses for the 4 week period prior to the date of the application are required. There is also a liquid asset test. The limit homeowners can have in bank accounts is $10,000 & for renters the limit is $7,000.

ConnPACE

presciptionsThis is an outstanding service that helps eligible senior citizens & people with disabilities
afford the cost of most prescription medicines. If you are a CT resident aged 65 or older,
or age 18 or older w/ a disability you may qualify for ConnPACE.  Besides covering most prescriptions, this program pays for insulin & insulin supplies.
2010 Maximum income guidelines;

  • Single: $25,100 and
  • Married: $33,800.

Co-pays on prescriptions will not exceed $16.25.
Part-D Premiums are covered 100%. Co-pays for prescriptions will not exceed - $16.25.

ConnPACE will only pay the monthly premiums for clients we are enrolled in the Connecticut approved Medicare D “benchmark” plans (contact Heather for a list of these plans). The new enrollment filing time period is from November 15th to December 31st annually. The annual enrollment fee is now $45 for a single and $90 for a couple.
