Transportation Options for Madison Residents

Madison Residents*, age 60 or older & disabled residents have transportation service options including the fixed route Madison Senior Bus, Dial-A-Ride & Madison Community Services; Medical Transportation Program.  Madison residents may call the Depot, 245-5627 to be mailed a flyer for the programs or use our website to read the information.

Bus Transportation Rules

Bus transportation service operating on a fixed route schedule is open to Madison Residents, aged 60 years of age and over, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. Pre-registration for bus transportation service is required. Call The Depot, 245-5627 to schedule a ride; 48 hours notice required. Regular fixed route riders need only call to cancel a ride.

Bus drivers are responsible for passengers from curb-to-curb. Bus service rules require that all riders be able to enter the bus without assistance or use the handicapped lift if necessary. Passengers are to be seated and seat belts fastened at all times. Passengers are not allowed to stand up prior to the bus coming to a full stop. Failure to follow operating rules will be grounds for suspension. Individuals experiencing unstable health conditions or problems may be requested to refrain from using bus transportation services.

Dial-A-Ride 245-5695

phoneOperation of Dial-A-Ride is a public transportation service designed to meet the transportation needs of the elderly & disabled. Rides may be used in a 14-town Shoreline Region including medical appointments (1st priority), shopping, personal business & work.
48 hours minimum notice required.

 

Transportation Via Senior Bus 245-5627

busFixed routes to the Senior Center (DEPOT), downtown, special events, hot lunch program & Thursday grocery shopping.  Pick-up notice – 48 hours required.

Madison Community Services 245-3031

shoreline shuttle Medical appointment transportation (local & surrounding areas) 4 days notice required. Call 245-3031.

 

The Shoreline Shuttle Estuary Transit District Route 860-510-0429

The route includes pickup @ the Depot at 10:20 AM & return at 2:30 PM on Monday – Friday. Call (860) 510-0429 to make pick-up arrangements.  Pre-registration required. This 9-Town Transit Bus (Madison to Old Saybrook) connects with the Dattco Bus to New Haven @ the Scranton Parking Lot.  Route schedules available in the Depot office.  TDD & TTY Phone # 1-800-842-9710.
