Salt Meadow Park serves two main purposes; protecting natural resources and providing recreational resources for the public.The recreational resources are easy to see: playing fields for organized sports and pick-up games, a walking path along the site of the old airport runway, hiking trails in the coastal forest, a natural amphitheater overlooking the river, a picnic area and in the future, a kayak launch.
Dogs are allowed in the parking lot and on walking trails only.
Dogs must be on a leash and under the control of handler/owner.
Permits are required for:
Use and operation of mechanically powered model airplanes, rockets, boats and miniature vehicles
The sale of food, beverages or merchandise
Picnics, outings or similar group gatherings involving more than 50 persons including organized sports
Permits obtained at the Recreation Office, 8 Campus Drive, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The removal or damage to any plant life
The use of threatening, abusive or insulting language
Possession of and/or consumption of Alcoholic beverages
