Older Americans Month: May 2019

May 2019 is Older Americans Month: Connect, Create, Contribute

Each year, more and more older adults are making a positive impact in and around Madison. As volunteers, employees, employers, educators, mentors, advocates, and more, they offer insight and experience that benefit the entire community. That’s why Older Americans Month (OAM) has been recognizing the contributions of this growing population for 56 years.

Madison Senior Services provides resources to help senior Madison residents stay healthy and independent, while enjoying self-directed, meaningful lives in our senior-friendly community.

This year’s OAM theme, Connect, Create, Contribute, encourages older adults and their communities to:

  • Connect with friends, family, and local services and resources.
  • Create through activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment.
  • Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others.

Madison Senior Services encourages you to:

Connect: Become a member of our Senior Center, invite a friend to lunch, and stay active and involved in your community.

Create: Try something new and step out of your comfort zone.  Madison Senior Services is committed to creating new ways for you to continue learning and experiencing new opportunities.

Contribute: Volunteer and share your knowledge with others.  Share your years of experience with someone.  Your knowledge is extremely valuable; don’t let it go to waste!!

Madison Senior Services celebrates Older Americans all year round!  Now you should celebrate yourselves.  Learn more about Madison Senior Services by stopping in at the Senior Center, visiting us at www.madisonct.org/seniors, or friend us on Facebook.
