On August 27, 2020 at approximately 0200 hours, Madison Police Department officers responded to a domestic dispute at 17 Salem Road in Madison (MPD CFS 20-6506). Upon arrival, officers met with the complainants who indicated that their 46 year-old son threatened them. Madison officers made brief verbal contact with the subject through a closed door. However, starting at approximately 0230 hours, no further contact was made with the subject.
The parents were quickly removed from the property and due to the nature of the threats made, the South Central Regional SWAT Team was activated along with the Crisis Negotiation Team. Neighbors were advised to shelter in place.
Negotiators, SWAT Team Members and Madison officers worked throughout the hours of the morning to communicate with the subject to induce a peaceful surrender. However, the subject remained barricaded and without communication until late into the morning.
At approximately 1030 hours, the subject was removed from the residence and was taken into custody.
The subject will face charges due to the underlying domestic dispute.
