Strong storm system approaching by mid-morning. Expect showers to begin mid-morning before turning steady with haste, becoming heavy at times into the afternoon. Most probably exceed 1", though local spots can reach or even top 2". The heaviest fall within a short time frame (5-6 hours or so), which combined with any leaf clogged drains, can result in some street flooding. More concerning are the wind gusts that also exceed 50 mph during the afternoon and evening, peaking particularly around dusk, and will cause some tree damage and local power outages. Strong winds are expected to taper off around 10 PM.
