Good evening, this is First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons with today’s weekly update.
I continue to be grateful that Madison has no new COVID cases in our community.
July 4th Events
As we transition back to our normal summer activities, I am happy to announce that Madison Fireworks will be holding its annual fireworks show on Friday, July 2nd at 9:30 p.m. with a rain date of July 5th. In addition, the Madison Exchange Club will be sponsoring its annual Independence Day parade on Sunday, July 4th. Step off will be at 10 a.m. Further information on parking policies and road closures for these two significant community events will be available on the Town’s website later in the month. Madison Cultural Arts annual Concert on the Green will not be held again this year due to scheduling concerns, but they look forward to returning to the Green next year.
Tax Bills
I want to alert residents that the 2020 Grand List tax bills will be mailed out on June 22, 2021. They will also be available online on this date. The first installment of tax is due July 1, 2021, and the last day to pay without penalty is August 2, 2021. Please note that there is no COVID-related tax deferment program for this next fiscal year.
Beach Operations
Now that Madison Public Schools is officially out for the summer, I want to remind residents that a 2021 Beach Sticker or a daily parking pass is now required to park at all Town Beaches seven days a week. All beaches will be fully staffed. In-person purchase of beach passes is available at the Surf Club office, not at Town Campus. The Surf Club office is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for walk-up service. Madison residents can also purchase seasonal beach stickers on-line through the Beach & Recreation website at www.madisonct.org/beachstickers and use their receipt as proof of residency for up to ten days after the purchase date. Visitor and resident daily parking passes will also be available for purchase at the Surf Club gate.
Dog Licenses
Another reminder for Madison dog owners that June is dog licensing month in Connecticut. This year the Town is offering many options to obtain a license, including a special registration event at the Library on Thursday, June 24th. For more information on this event and other ways to renew or obtain a new license, please visit the Town Clerk’s website at www.madisonct.org/dogs.
Madison Alerts
Starting in July, as we continue to wind down from the public health emergency and return to more normal activities and operations, I will be shifting my weekly community updates to a bi-weekly schedule every other Friday. Please note that you can change how you receive these messages from Madison Alerts, whether by voice, email or text, by updating your account settings at www.madisonct.org/madisonalerts You can also unsubscribe at any time.
Have a great weekend Madison.
