Community Update from the First Selectwoman
🎓 A special congratulations to the Daniel Hand Class of 2022! The Board of Education will be conducting a graduation ceremony this Tuesday, June 14th on the Town Green starting at 6 p.m. I want to applaud this amazing group of young people for your many accomplishments, including your resiliency and perseverance during these last few challenging years. On behalf of the residents of Madison, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
This Sunday Saturday, June 11th at 5 p.m. Madison Beach & Recreation will be kicking off a new concert series at Salt Meadow Park. For more information on the dates and line-up for the summer, please visit the Salt Meadow Park website.
I am also excited to announce that the Town will be welcoming the U.S. Coast Guard Band for a free concert in Madison on Sunday, June 26th at 6 p.m. on the Town Green. The Coast Guard Band is the premier band representing the United States Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security. Join us for a collection of patriotic music to kick-off our summer concert series.
This summer I am grateful that we are able to transition back to all of our traditional Independence Day weekend celebratory events, including the return of the Concert on the Green.
Further information on parking policies and road closures for these significant community events are available on the Town’s website.
Please note that due to the expected high visitor volume at our beaches over the July 4th holiday weekend, the Town will be implementing a number of special event parking policies (similar to those in 2021).
Starting next Saturday, June 18th, a 2022 Beach Parking Sticker or a daily parking pass will now be required to park at all Town Beaches 7 days a week. In-person purchase of beach parking passes is available at the Surf Club office seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for walk-up service. Madison residents can also purchase seasonal beach parking passes on-line through the Beach & Recreation website and use their receipt as proof of residency for up to ten days after the purchase date. Visitor and resident daily parking passes will also be available for purchase at the Surf Club offices. Resident Guest Parking Passes are $10 per vehicle per day, and Non-Resident Visitor Parking Passes are $40 per vehicle per day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays, and $25 each for other weekdays.
Please note that the Town anticipates the 2021 Grand List tax bills to be mailed on June 22, 2022. The first installment of tax is due July 1, 2022 and the last day to pay without penalty is August 1, 2022. Tax bills will also be viewable and payable online at www.madisonct.org/tax starting June 23, 2022. The tax office will begin accepting payments in person on June 23, 2022 along with the tax collector’s drop box outside Town Campus.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of our new Tax Collector, Christina Consiglio. Christina can be reached at (203) 245-5641 .
I want to remind Madison dog owners that June is dog licensing month in Connecticut. This year the Town is offering many options to obtain a license, including an online renewal of previous licenses. Please visit the Town Clerk’s website or call 203-245-5672 for more information.
A reminder that the state has resumed its ParkConneCT shuttle service in Madison again this year. This free bus service links several locations in our downtown directly to Hammonasset State Beach. This program offers a fare-free Madison Shuttle run by 9 Town Transit on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through Labor Day. It includes a 30-minute loop through our downtown - starting at the 79 Commuter Parking Lot, stopping at the Madison Shoreline East Train Station, stopping at the corner of the Boston Post Rd. and Wall Street, and then traveling to the Hammonasset Camp Grounds and Middle Beach inside Hammonasset State Park. More information on timetables and stop locations can be found https://estuarytransit.org/parkconnect/.
Have a great weekend Madison!
