Charter Public Hearing

On Monday, June 27th, the Board of Selectmen is holding a public hearing on the proposed amendments to the Town Charter as recommended by the Charter Review Commission. The hearing is being held through a hybrid format at 6 p.m. in Room A at Madison Town Campus. The public can attend in person or attend via a zoom link available on the Town calendar. The public is welcome to comment on the proposed recommended changes made by the Charter Review Commission which are available at on the Town website.

Summer Concert Options

A reminder that the Town will be welcoming the U.S. Coast Guard Band for a free concert in Madison this Sunday, June 26th at 6 p.m. on the Town Green. The Coast Guard Band is the premier band representing the United States Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security. Join us for a collection of patriotic music to kick-off our summer concert series. Visit our website for the rest of the schedule for the Summer Concert Series

Independence Day Events

This Independence Day weekend Madison will be hosting all its traditional Independence Day celebratory events, including the return of the Concert on the Green.

  • Madison Cultural Arts will be holding a free concert featuring the Wallingford Symphony on Saturday, July 2nd starting at 6 p.m. Please visit the Madison Cultural Arts website for more information.
  • Madison Fireworks will be holding its annual fireworks show on Sunday, July 3rd at 9:30 p.m. In addition to traffic detours and road closures prior to the event, the Town will be running shuttle buses to the Surf Club on a continuous loop starting at 7 p.m. with stops at the Rt. 79 Commuter Lot, the Madison Train Station, and the Stop & Shop parking lot.
  • Madison Exchange Club will be sponsoring its annual Independence Day parade on Monday, July 4th. Step off will be at 10 a.m.
  • Parking: Please note that due to the expected high visitor volume at our beaches over the July 4th holiday weekend, the Town will be implementing a number of special event beach parking policies (similar to those in 2021). As part of this policy, no beach parking stickers or daily parking passes will be sold at the Surf Club on Friday, July 1st, or throughout the long holiday weekend. All parking related passes must be purchased in advance at the Surf Club office Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on Friday, July 1st, at the Madison Visitor Center/Chamber of Commerce Office at 12 School Street. Town staff will be stationed in the Visitor Center next Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for the sale of stickers and daily parking passes. More information on these policies can be found on our website.

Beach Parking Stickers

A reminder that the Beach & Recreation Department has permanently moved its offices to the Surf Club. No beach passes or other services are being offered at the Town Campus. If you do not have a beach sticker but need to visit the department at the Surf Club, please let the attendant at the gate know the purpose of your visit and you will be allowed entrance.

2022 Beach Parking Stickers or a daily parking pass are now required to park at all Town Beaches 7 days a week. In-person purchase of beach parking passes is available at the Surf Club office seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for walk-up service. Madison residents can also purchase seasonal beach parking passes online through the Beach & Recreation website and use their receipt as proof of residency for up to ten days after the purchase date. Visitor and resident daily parking passes will also be available for purchase at the Surf Club offices. Resident Guest Parking Passes are $10 per vehicle per day, and Non-Resident Visitor Parking Passes are $40 per vehicle per day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays, and $25 each for other weekdays.

Tax Bills

Please note that the 2021 Grand List tax bills have been mailed to Madison taxpayers.  The first installment of tax is due July 1, 2022 and the last day to pay without penalty is August 1, 2022. Tax bills are also viewable and payable online. The tax office is now accepting payments in person, by mail and through the tax collector’s drop box outside Town Campus.

Dog Licenses

Next week is the last week for Madison dog owners to license their dogs without penalty. This year the Town is offering many options to obtain a license, including an online renewal of previous licenses.  Please visit the Town Clerk’s website or call 203-245-5672 for more information.

Have a great weekend Madison!
