What is the history of Academy School?
The original Hand Academy was gifted from Daniel Hand in 1884 and became a free public high school in 1887. The original building was demolished and Academy School was constructed in 1921. A rear addition to the school was constructed in 1936. The school was vacated by the Board of Education in 2004 and turned over to the Town in 2011.
